SCHOOLS

Instead of the hassle of taking your class out of school let AotP bring the history to you.

We provide an interactive presentation to suit all ages and abilities.

A full day of presentations and activities provide a unique and enjoyable way of learning for all. Prior to a visit you will recieve simple pattern ideas for costumes. This will help give an understanding about dress in the medieval era and help build the excitement. On the day of the  visit everyone will feel more involved and enjoy the experience even more. Customised Lesson Plans can also be provided which will include various activities for the day.

'Age of the Princes visited Connah's Quay for the 4th year in succession, and as usual the Y7's had a fantastic day learning about life in medieval Wales. This is a must for all secondary schools as History is brought to life especially the horrible
parts!
A fantastic day. Already pencilled for next year.'

COUNTRY SHOWS

Picture

AotP is rural based and our love and  knowledge of the countryside really comes across when we demonstrate rural life in the medieval period.

From the prestigious Flint and Denbigh County Show  to smaller scale village fairs, our living history display really adds a new and  fascinating attraction. Many aspects of rural medieval life are shown through  the role of a forester and associated craftsmen. We answer questions such as: how did our ancestors hunt and prepare food? How did they deal with poachers and their dogs.

There are some superb examples of traditional skills on display such as leatherworking, bodging, fletching even herbal medicine can be featured depending on requirements and budget.

In the photo, left, at Caerwys Agricultural Show in 2011 the role of the forester is explained. Why he carries a sword and buckler shield for his protection, how he deals with hunting dogs and lots more.

Community Events

Picture

Liverpool based charity AFA commissioned AotP to organise workshops for the children of the Pentrefoelas and Ysbyty Ifan.  The workshops involved medieval presentations to help inspire the children to paint shields, swords and tabbards. When the paint dried, AotP gave them 'drill practise' with some simple marching techniques.

Following the workshops the whole community were brought together at a medieval day featuring superb living history demonstrations. The children had the chance to show off their marching skills and artwork .
We awarded prizes for the best creations.

Fun and Learning

Picture
Bringing the past to life for a group of enthralled school
children, their teachers and quite a few parents. We met with Ysgol Abermule at Dolforwyn castle, Powys on a beautiful spring day 2012.

'What a class day!

All our children and parents really had a  day to remember - many thanks for your presentation - a brilliant combination
of  historic detail and dry humour which we all appreciated!

It was  the sort of day I came into teaching for - a day that every boy and girl will remember for the rest of their lives!

Thank  you so much.'

Headmaster, Terry Wain.
